The Cinequest Screenwriting Competition continues to empower global connectivity between screenwriters, filmmakers, producers, and innovators. Entering it’s eleventh year, the competition retains a stellar reputation that hinges in no small part on its knack for exhibiting a compelling mix of stories from around the globe and providing opportunities for writers to tap into a network recognized for accelerating their drive towards success.
Recognized as a Top 10 Film Festival by the "Ultimate Film Festival Survival Guide", Cinequest provides the finest discovery bastion of international film premieres, breakthrough technology, artists, and innovators. Cinequest presents a dynamic 13-day festival with 300+ screenings and events with over 700 artists, innovators, and professionals representing 50 countries. Over 100,000 attend the festival annually.
Rules:
•All genres are accepted. Especially seeking comedy, thriller/mystery, sci-fi, and highly original material.
•Contestants from all countries are eligible.
•Screenplays must be submitted in English.
•Length (not including title page): Feature-length screenplays must be between 70 -125 pages.Short film screenplays must be 20 pages or less. Teleplays must be between 45-70 pages (approx. 1 hour show).
•Please use proper script formatting according to industry standards.
•Digital submissions in PDF format only.
•Please include ONLY the title and the tracking number on the submitted manuscript to prevent reader bias. Full contact info, writer’s name, title and company information should not be printed on any part of the actual screenplay.
•Rewritten/corrected pages WILL NOT be accepted once the entry has been received.
RESTRICTIONS:
•No entry fee refunds.
•Script must not have been previously optioned, purchased, currently in production or previously produced. Any script that becomes purchased, optioned or put into production before the final jury decision on February 16, 2015 will be eliminated from the competition with no entry refund.
•Scripts written as adaptations of other works must have secured rights before being submitted.
